5 Small Daily Habits That Boost Productivity and Mood

09-05-14 Five Little Things | www.kitchenconfidante.com

Five little things I loved this week:

1. Back to School (Night)

My inner nerd came out in full force this week — call me crazy, but I really enjoy Back to School Night. Even when it coincides with our wedding anniversary, I’d rather be in our children’s classrooms with my husband, meeting teachers and leaving a little note on their desks. With our oldest now in middle school, it was fun to switch classes and remember all the small details of school life: PA systems, overhead projectors, and the quirky humor of science teachers.

2. 13

My husband and I celebrated 13 years of marriage this week, and I feel incredibly lucky to share this life with him.

3. Baking

There’s a familiar urge to bake taking hold. Evenings are cooler while daytime still holds summer warmth, but I’ve been turning on the oven more and more. I’m easing into the idea of autumn and enjoying slow, comforting baking projects as the seasons shift.

4. Today on Sirius

I’ve loved the Today Show for as long as I can remember. In early work days, I’d get ready while watching the show; later, when I moved away for graduate school, it kept me connected to home. I still stream it on my tablet, and I was excited to discover it’s now on satellite radio. It’s perfect for errands and drives around town.

5. Al Roker is So Punny

Speaking of the Today Show, I adore a clever pun, particularly the bovine variety. Al Roker had me chuckling with one joke after another in a recent clip. His lighthearted humor is the sort of thing that brightens a morning and stays with me all day.
