This Creamy Prawn Pasta with lemon and capers is one of my favourite 15-minute dinners. Succulent prawns bathed in a creamy white wine, Grana Padano and lemon sauce, brightened with peas and served with gluten-free tagliatelle. It’s the perfect quick dinner when you’re short on time.

This Prawn Pasta Is A 15-Minute Wonder!

- Why choose this recipe? With bright lemon notes, juicy prawns and gluten-free tagliatelle, this easy prawn pasta is a speedy, repeatable weeknight favourite.
- Top tip: I add peas and rocket (arugula) for colour and texture, but you can swap in cherry tomatoes, spinach or asparagus.
- Pasta of choice: I usually use supermarket gluten-free tagliatelle, but spaghetti, linguine, penne or fusilli also work well.

Ingredients and Substitutions
Below is the printable recipe card with exact quantities, but here are the key ingredients and suggested swaps to make the dish your own.
- Gluten-free tagliatelle: Find in the free-from aisle, or use any gluten-free pasta (or regular pasta if you prefer).
- King prawns: Raw prawns absorb flavour best, but cooked prawns can be added if that’s what you have.
- Garlic: Freshly chopped for the best aroma.
- Grana Padano: A hard Italian cheese; parmesan works as an alternative.
- White wine: Adds depth; replace with reserved pasta water if you want an alcohol-free version.
- Frozen peas: Or swap for chopped asparagus, tenderstem broccoli or other quick-cooking veg.
- Capers: Optional—finely chopped if you prefer a milder tang.
- Lemon: Zest brightens the sauce with fresh citrus aroma.
- Double cream: Heavy cream in the US; use low-fat cream cheese or crème fraîche for a lighter result.
- Rocket (arugula): Adds peppery freshness; baby spinach is a good swap.

How to Make Creamy Prawn Pasta
The printable recipe card below includes the full method. Here are concise step-by-step photos to show how straightforward this lemon and prawn pasta is to prepare.

This pasta is best eaten fresh. Leftovers can be refrigerated, but the sauce may be absorbed by the pasta when reheated, so make only what you need for the best texture.

Ingredients
- 250 g gluten free tagliatelle, (spaghetti or linguine work too)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 200 g raw king prawns
- 2 tsp chopped garlic
- 50 g Grana Padano cheese, (grated)
- 75 ml white wine
- 75 g frozen peas
- 35 g capers
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 75 ml double cream
- Rocket, (arugula)
Instructions
-
Bring a large pan of heavily salted water to the boil and cook the pasta according to the packet instructions (usually 8–10 minutes).
-
Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the prawns and garlic and cook for 3–4 minutes, until the prawns are fully pink if using raw.
-
Stir in the Grana Padano, white wine, peas, capers and lemon zest. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.
-
Turn the heat to low, add the cream and mix well, then remove from the heat. Drain the pasta and toss it through the prawns and sauce. Serve with a lemon wedge and plenty of rocket.
