Finding a healthy, tasty snack for my kids can feel impossible. Many packaged snacks are full of salt, high fructose corn syrup, and processed ingredients I can’t pronounce — and they can be costly. That’s why I love making homemade granola bars: they use real ingredients, are budget-friendly, and are simple to prepare.
This Cranberry Granola Bar Squares recipe yields moist, chewy squares loaded with oats, crispy rice cereal, and dried cranberries. They’re naturally dairy-free and can be made gluten-free if you use certified gluten-free oats and cereal.

The recipe uses eleven straightforward ingredients but comes together quickly. These bars are also highly customizable — add chopped nuts, swap the dried fruit, or fold in a few chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for a special treat.

Cranberry Granola Bar Squares:

- rolled oats
- crispy rice cereal
- all-purpose flour
- packed brown sugar
- ground cinnamon
- salt
- dried cranberries
- vegetable oil
- honey
- egg
- vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 7×11 (11×7) baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, crispy rice cereal, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and dried cranberries. Stir until evenly mixed.

Whisk together the vegetable oil, honey, egg, and vanilla. Add this wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until everything is coated and combined.
Tip: Use the same measuring cup for the oil and honey. Measure and pour the oil first, then the honey — the oil helps the honey slide out easily and prevents a sticky measuring cup.

Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared 7×11 pan using the back of a large spoon. For thicker, chewier bars use this pan size; if you prefer thinner, crunchier bars, use a 9×13 pan instead.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

Let the pan cool for about 15 minutes, then cut into squares while the bars are still warm but not hot.

If your kids love these as much as mine, they’ll disappear fast. Store any leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container to keep the bars moist and chewy for several days.
