Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups Kit Kat candy coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Cream together shortening, brown sugar and sugar.
  • Add eggs, hot water and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped Kit Kats and chocolate chips.
  • Using a medium cookie scoop, drop rounded portions of dough onto a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Bake at 375°F for 10–12 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Both coarsely chopped full-size Kit Kats and Kit Kat Minis work well in this recipe. The photos show the minis.
