This weekend we welcomed a new puppy into our home — meet Peanut!
Peanut is a four-month-old coonhound and Australian cattle dog mix. From a distance she looks a lot like a black Labrador, but up close you can see her beautiful dark brown markings, wispy white fur on her toes and the tip of her tail, and a single spot on her thigh that hints at her cattle dog heritage.
She came from a litter where each pup was named after a different nut, and somehow Peanut felt like the perfect fit. I keep thinking about changing her name, but it suits her so well — and it’s especially fitting for a family that loves peanut butter.
Right now she’s curled up in her crate with her stuffed gnome toy, and we’re completely smitten. At the same time, we’re a bit overwhelmed — we’re moving next weekend, so the timing is hectic. Because of that, I’ll be taking the week off from blogging. If I can steal a few minutes between potty training, cuddles, and packing, you might spot some Peanut snaps in my Instagram stories, but I can’t promise anything.
